Commercial Construction & Tenant Improvement, Built as Your General Contractor
Building While Giving brings the same transparency and craftsmanship behind our residential remodels to commercial spaces across Denver and the Front Range. We take on these projects as the general contractor, running the job from permitting through final walkthrough — not subbing in on someone else's schedule.
Built as Your General Contractor, Not a Sub
When Roberto Diaz describes the commercial side of Building While Giving, he puts it plainly: “I want to do work as the GC and not a sub.” Property managers, developers, and business owners who bring us on get one point of contact accountable for the entire job. We pull the permits, coordinate the trades, manage the schedule, and stand behind the finished space.
A Process Built for Property Managers & Developers
A dedicated commercial crew, separate from our residential teams, handles permitting, trade coordination, and scheduling from day one. You get access to the same JobTread portal our residential clients use — daily updates, shared documents, a direct line of communication — so you’re never chasing a status update.

Two years building a commercial line the same way we built residential.
We’re two years into building out our commercial line, and we’ve grown it the same way we built our residential business: licensed, hands-on, and accountable for the whole job. As a licensed Commercial GC (License B), we run dedicated commercial crews separate from our residential teams, and every project is tracked through the same JobTread portal.
The same standards on every job, commercial or residential.
Whether we’re running a residential remodel or a commercial buildout, the same standards apply. These aren’t add-ons. They’re how we run every job, and a large part of why clients come back for a second project.

Giving tied to GC-led work, not every commercial job.
Giving back is part of how we do business, and on commercial projects that means something specific. When a property owner brings us on directly as general contractor, we set aside a portion of the project for a nonprofit we choose ourselves. It's not a line we add to every commercial invoice. It's tied to the projects where we're leading the work from start to finish.
FAQs About Commercial Construction
How long does a typical commercial buildout take?
Timelines vary by scope and permitting, but most tenant improvement and office buildout projects run several weeks to a few months from permit approval to final walkthrough.
How does your estimate process work?
We start with a site visit to understand the scope, then provide a written estimate before any work begins. No surprise change orders without your sign-off first.
What's the difference between hiring you as GC versus as a subcontractor?
As general contractor, we run the entire job: permitting, trade coordination, scheduling, and final walkthrough. As a subcontractor, we handle one piece of a project someone else is managing.
Who handles permitting on a commercial project?
We do. Pulling permits and coordinating inspections is part of running the job as general contractor.
Are you licensed and insured for commercial work?
Yes. We hold a Commercial GC License (B) and carry the insurance required to run commercial projects in Colorado.
Do you offer financing for commercial projects?
Financing options vary by project size and scope. Call us to talk through what might work for your buildout.
