Questions about custom home building
Whether you’re new to the custom home building process or you’ve built before, we’re here to answer your questions. If you don’t see your question below, reach out directly — we’re happy to discuss your specific situation.
How long does a custom home build typically take?
Timeline varies depending on scope, site conditions, and local permitting. A typical custom home build (from breaking ground to move-in) takes 9–14 months. Design and permitting phases can add 3–6 months before construction begins. We provide a detailed project schedule during the planning phase.
What's included in a custom home build?
We handle everything from site evaluation through final walkthrough: permits, foundation, structural work, all systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), framing, interior finishes, landscaping, and final inspection. We’ll document exactly what’s included in your project agreement.
Can I make changes during construction?
Yes, but timing matters. Changes early in the process (framing phase and earlier) are often easier to accommodate. Changes mid-build or late can impact timeline and cost. We manage all change requests through JobTread and keep you informed of impacts.
What warranty do you offer on a custom home?
Every custom home we build is backed by a one-year workmanship warranty covering labor and materials. We conduct follow-up check-ins at 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, and 1 year to address any issues.
How does the giving program work with a custom home build?
Your custom home is your biggest project with us — and it becomes your biggest charitable impact. You choose any registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we donate 3–5% of our earnings on the build to that nonprofit. The giving program never changes what you pay.
